Introducing: Sonorous Love

Introducing: Sonorous Love

Sonorous Love champions nature and balance, giving life to thoughtful design and high standards of ethical sourcing, so that we may make choices that disturb less of our planet's ecosystem and provide maximum warmth and creative comfort to our bodies and homes.

We currently have two types of products:

  1. Cotton blankets inspired by a connection to the stories of place and vulnerable wildlife, opening awareness for endangered species and the beauty of pollinators. Ethically made in the US with non-toxic dyes and organic cotton delivered in BPI certified compostable packaging.
  2. Hand-made, herbal balms crafted intentionally to moisturize and imbue regenerative properties of medicinal plants. Plastic-free jars and hand-drawn labels in recycled/low-waste packaging.

The biggest departure we desire to take within the home and beauty industries are from overproducing synthetics. Our goal is simple: only create what is desired, design high-quality, long-lasting wares with purpose and sustainability in mind.

But where did all of this stem from? The design, sustainability, and inspiration? A great respect came from the privilege of growing up with the woods in Marissa's back yard. With her siblings, she spent countless hours exploring, coming into relation with, and learning from the land & forest. Her family created impactful memories outdoors while walking through trails near the river, racing bikes with the neighbor kids, and playing night games in the summer. They valued a healthy lifestyle, eating whole foods, often from the garden (though not exclusively ;) and were lucky to come up in a time where one didn't buy new clothes and objects all the time. They sewed and repaired before replacing, having more natural fiber options, before the mass influx of synthetics.

Now, with over a decade in the fashion industry and even longer as a maker, mender and wellness geek, Marissa made a decision in 2024 to foray down this path with a love for beautiful and unique textiles. What was originally meant to be a side hustle, quickly occupied a significant amount of time and headspace. She is here with passion to inspire a change in how we consume, to educate on what makes a textiles and skincare more desirable or safer to produce, and how plants can be interchanged with both what we drape over us before bed each night, and what we rub into our dry and irritated skin.

And what about the name? Sonorous (saa·nr·uhs): producing sound (as when struck), Love (luv): warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion

Love connects us to each other, the planet and all of its inhabitants. When Marissa takes pause in wild spaces with a heightened sense of wonder and in presence, that's Sonorous Love.
